A small, quiet community centered around Vera Ashfield's informal authority. Three are members of the same family who have been in Shelford since the 1950s. The others arrived individually over the years, drawn by the city's manageable size and Vera's reputation as someone who can help a new arrival get established without complications. The community does not have a formal gathering structure; Vera's kitchen table on Sunday afternoons functions as the de facto community space. She does not call it a community meeting. She calls it lunch.

Skinchanger

The Ardenne Pack (6 members)

Three generations of the Ardenne family have been in Shelford: Fen Ardenne (sixty-one, retired ironworker, the quiet authority), his daughter Bex (thirty-five, works at the Vance Civic Center events staff), and four younger members including Bex's two children. The pack is registered with the Compact of Lines. They secured their registration in 1989, which makes them better-positioned than many packs in the region. Their territory is the arena district and the river walk corridor, informal and not particularly contested.

Bex Ardenne's position at the Vance Civic Center is both mundane employment and a community intelligence function: she knows who is using which spaces for what, and she passes along anything relevant to her father or to the Compact contact for the region. She is not an active operative. She is an attentive person who shares information with people who need it.

Faeborn

3 Individuals

All are connected to the Threshold Society through the Briar Passage Books waystation. One is a Warden trainee working under Rhennick's supervision. One is a librarian at the SSU library (the one who knows where the Kellner Collection's less accessible items are actually filed). One is a forty-year-old high school teacher who has no interest in formal Society membership but significant interest in Rhennick's continuing friendship and expertise.

Marked Community

Fragmented

Shelford's Marked community does not cohere. Noor Kaya (Shadow-Bound, Sovereign Circle) operates largely independently. Two Light-Bound Marked are loosely connected to the Order of the Warden's Flame through a small practice group that meets in the Victorian house on Calloway Street. Not an Order chapter, but practitioners maintaining covenant through regular shared work. They are aware of Noor's existence. There has been no reason for friction between them.

The Order's nearest formal chapter is ninety miles east. When it sends a Warden to Shelford for a specific operation, they make contact with the Calloway Street group, use it as a staging point, and leave. The group is accustomed to this pattern.
